Native Garden Planting May 11

Native Garden Planting May 11

Join us as we take the next step in creating a wonderful Native Garden at Gideon Pond.

Do you like to play in the dirt? Are you interested in learning about native plants? Join us on Saturday May 11, 2024 from 9:00 AM – Noon for our Spring Stewardship Event at Gideon Pond’s Native Garden (near the Blue & Green Playground).

All ages and abilities are welcome. No gardening knowledge necessary. We will work in pairs and small teams to remove noxious weeds, install new plants and spread mulch. The Native Garden not only beautifies our school but also creates critical habitat for wildlife and acts as a living classroom for our students.

What to Bring:

Gardening gloves

Water bottle

Sunscreen and hat and a jacket because it is spring in MN

Helpful but not required tools: shovels, garden rakes, hoes, cultivators, garden knives, hand trowels, battery powered drills and wheelbarrows or garden carts (for mulch).

We will provide all the necessary tools, plants and some snacks!

Let’s dig in and make a difference together! Please RSVP to JACKIE SORENSEN jasorensen@isd191.org if you can help out, even for a little while!
